Gracie has really shown signs lately of being almost ready to potty train. She has been interested in bathrooms for months now, likes sitting on her own potty chair, and understands all the basic steps we go through to take care of business (toilet paper, flushing, and washing hands). All this is old news. However, about 3 days ago, she started asking us to change her diaper every time it was wet...needless to say, we ran out of diapers within a couple days and had to get more. She likes to suprise us by helping herself out of her clothes and diaper if we aren't around to change her (and will even throw her old diaper away). Yesterday this led to her being completely naked at the end of her nap and a #1 and #2 accident that Papa was nice enough to handle for us.
Obviously, this is good progress towards no more diapers, but until she gets to the next step of knowing BEFORE she has to go it really is more of a hassle. Lindsay said, as a joke, that we should duct tape her diapers on...I said that actually sounded like a great idea, and guess what? Now she can't take off her own diaper. She gets angry now that she can't take them off, but it beats the alternative. One more use for the incredibly flexible, all-American, fix-it-all tool: the Positive Control Diaper Locking Mechanism (PCDLM).

Also in the news, she has been sick with a bad cold for a week. Last Thursday she started getting lime green goop in her eyes. We finally got to the Dr today and discovered that she has pink eye (in both eyes) and an ear infection (in both ears). She has been miserable but hopefully the medication will kick in soon for both items.
Ellie went to the Dr for her 2 month checkup last week. She has been thriving on the right formula and is now 24 in long (97%tile, 19" at birth) and weighs 11 lb 9 oz (75%tile, 8lb 3oz at birth). She got her shots and did as well as could be expected there. The needles are SO long...I thought they were injecting her thigh bones!
